Since COVID-19, stress and isolation have increased as people struggle to reintegrate into social life and establish healthy routines. The pandemic has left many seeking new ways to reconnect and manage their well-being, highlighting the need for spaces where people can gather, socialise, and develop sustainable, health-focused habits.
Vision & Mission
Offering a year-round accessible bathhouse that combines raw nature with Scandinavian design, promoting proven mental and physical well-being through cold water exposure - aiming to inspire healthier life styles and a sense of belonging.
Tradition
For centuries, ice bathing in the northern seas has been deeply ingrained in Norwegian culture. This enduring tradition is rooted in ancient beliefs about cold-water exposure’s numerous health benefits, passed down through generations. The bathhouse makes sure to keep the tradition alive and develop it further by being an educational, year-round accessible space.
Health Benefits
With modern science and ongoing research we can validate benefits like improved deeper and more restful sleep, immunity boost, mental clarity and focus, enhanced circulation and nerve function an many more. Community and sense of belonging is the biggest proven factor for increasing mental health psychologists claims - which is why the bathhouse is design for gathering.
Design Intention
The design emphasizes simplicity, harmony and timelessness. Large windows let natural light flood the space, connecting the indoors with the breathtaking outdoor scenery. The high ceilings and open spaces create an airy, welcoming atmosphere. The architecture is a blend of clean, modern lines and organic forms, using soft curves, arches and vaulted ceilings to bring warmth and comfort
Local Impact
The café provides an opportunity for local businesses to operate, using locally sourced ingredients that promote sustainability through reduced food miles and support for the local economy. This approach creates a ripple effect—nurturing both individual well-being and a sustainable, thriving local ecosystem.
